French-based smart beta specialist Ossiam has boosted its ESG credentials with the hiring of Antonio Celeste as head of ESG business development and sales director.

Ossiam is an affiliate of the global investment firm Natixis.

Celeste was recently institutional relations director for Europe and Middle East at Sustainalytics, where he worked for seven years.

He previously held business development roles with Vigeo (now Vigeo-Eiris) in ESG research and services, and Effiscience, a developer of artificial Intelligence-driven solutions.

Bruno Poulin, chief executive at Ossiam, said, "In hiring Celeste, we are reinforcing our team with a person deeply experienced in ESG.

"With his R&D engineering background, Antonio has strong quantitative abilities, making him an excellent hire for Ossiam as a leader in smart beta investment solutions. Hiring someone of his calibre is demonstration of the importance of ESG-based investment to the company."

Celeste holds a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and an MBA in international finance from HEC Paris, France.
