The MSCI World Selection Index is a free float-adjusted market capitalization-weighted index designed to represent the performance of companies that are selected from the MSCI World Index (“Parent Index”) based on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria, which exclude certain businesses and assess ESG ratings and controversies. The index is derived from MSCI’s Parent Indexes and aims to maintain sector weights that align with them. It targets 50% free float-adjusted market capitalization coverage in each Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS®) sector by selecting companies primarily based on their ESG rating, rating trend, and industry-adjusted ESG score.
