Europe’s largest ETF eventin 2022 is just moments away and I cannot tell you how excited we are here atETF Streamto be hosting what is set to be an absolutely cracking three days.

ETFs have been relentless in their rise over the past few years and even saw inflows of €42.7bn in Q1, according to data from Morningstar, despite the volatility driven by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The stickiness of the allocations has created a market in Europe that is growing at approximately 20% a year since the Global Financial Crisis with €1.4trn assets under management (AUM).

This meteoric rise across the globe has led some corners of asset management to claim passive investing has become dangerously big and the market has hit a ‘peak’.

This will be one of the main focuses for Day 1 ofETF Ecosystem Unwrapped, which is exclusively open to professional investors in Europe, and will be addressed by Amundi’s ETF, indexing and smart beta head Arnaud Llinas during the opening keynote and the FT's Robin Wigglesworth.

Elsewhere, Day 1 will look to tackle some of the important asset allocation decisions facing investors in this ever more challenging market environment.

How to think about emerging markets will be assessed by Renaissance Capital’s Charlie Robertson while Joachim Klement and the esteemed Professor Robert Shiller will share their thoughts on the potential impact of central bank policy in relation to skyrocketing inflation.

Despite the continuous growth of the European ETF market, there remain a number of challenges for the ecosystem including unintended consequences of the Central Securities Depositary Regime (CSDR), the incoming level two of the Sustainable Finance Disclosures Regime (SFDR) and the ongoing lack of a consolidated tape.

Day 2 – which is open to all stakeholders across the European ETF ecosystem – will focus on these issues and more with the likes of the European Commission’s Tilman Lueder, State Street’s Ciarán Fitzpatrick and the Central Bank of Ireland’s Catharine Dwyer.

Also, keep your eyes out for the panel on the latest in ETF trading as well as PwC’s Robert Mellor keynote on the future of the City of London in a post-Brexit world.

Finally, Day 3 of the event is open to leaders of the ETF industry (invite-only) and will focus on key issues such as indexing, ETF distribution, crypto as well as how smaller issuers can survive in a market dominated by the bigger players.

For those attending, we are confident this will be theplace to network, exchange ideas and get to grips with the latest on markets and the European ETF industry.
