Former BlackRock product research head joins London Stock Exchange

London Stock Exchange (LSE) has appointed Arne Staal to the newly created role of head of research and product management, information services.

Staal’s duties include leading the two complementary areas of the information services division, linking up research and thought leadership to product strategy and product development.

Prior to joining LSE, Staal (pictured) served as global head of macro systemic strategies and macro risk at Aberdeen Standard Investments.

Staal's previous roles also include head of product research and innovation at BlackRock for iShares and European head of index products and strategy at Barclays Capital, developing his knowledge of indexing, analytics and data platforms in both active and passive strategies.

LSE rejects Hong Kong Exchange's £32bn bid 

Waqas Samad, group director of information services at LSE, commented: “Staal brings a wealth of experience of the indexing and analytics business having held a number of senior positions across the investment industry.”
