Vanguard hires Young in senior hire

Scott Longley

Vanguard has poached Paul Young from major rival State Street Global Advisers and appointed him as a European senior ETF capital markets specialist.

Young was most recently head of ETF capital markets for the EMEA region at SSGA. He will report to Thomas Bartolacci, head of ETF capital markets, Europe, and will be responsible for supporting the liquidity of Vanguard's products and helping clients achieve their investment goals.

Thomas Merz, head of distribution, Europe, Ex-UK said: "It is no secret that ETFs have become increasingly popular for their benefits; ultimately leading to better investment outcomes for investors."

He added that Young's experience and knowledge "will not only help our team ensure clients get the best possible trading experience, but also continue to achieve the lowest possible trading costs, when buying and selling ETFs."

Young joined SSGA in 2007 as senior equities trader. Prior to this, he held roles at St James's Place Wealth Management and Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
