Invesco has strengthened its ETF capital markets team in London with the appointment of Andy Dwiar as head of ETF capital markets for the UK, Benelux and Nordic region.

Reporting to Jim Goldie, head of ETF capital markets for EMEA at Invesco, Dwiar focuses on developing and enhancing the liquidity and trading ecosystem for the firm’s UCITS ETFs.

Dwiar joins Invesco from BMO Asset Management, which has withdrawn its ETF business from Europe, where he was responsible for ETF capital markets EMEA.

A spokesperson from Invesco said the hire was made before BMO decided to pull the plug on its ETF business in Europe.

Prior to BMO, Dwiar held various roles for both the buy and sell-side such as an execution trader, assistant fund manager and high yield broker at BlueBay Asset Management, Thames River Capital and Credit Suisse.

Invesco has significantly expanded its UK team over the last 18 months. Appointments include Ambrice Miller as business development as well as Wayne Parker and Deepak Bharti who joined the company's fixed income ETF team in late-2018.

Jim Goldie, EMEA head of ETF capital markets at Invesco, said in a statement: “In an environment where every basis point counts, trading is becoming an increasingly competitive and important part of the ETF experience and Dwiar's expertise will allow us to better service our clients and improve the trading ecosystem of our UCITS ETF range”
