Amundi has expanded its German ETF, indexing and smart beta team with a trio of appointments.

Thomas Wiedenmann (pictured) has been appointed head of retail and wealth management ETF, indexing and smart beta for Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe.

Wiedenmann joins from BlackRock, where he spent five years, most recently as head of iShares wealth advisory, Germany.

He started his career in ETF sales at Deutsche Bank before moving to the German bank’s asset management arm as head of passive product public distribution for Germany.

Aysun Cifci and Dirk Auersperg have been appointment senior sales for Amundi’s ETF, indexing and smart beta arm.

Cifci joins from UBS Asset Management, where she was director of ETF sales for Germany and Austria.

Prior to UBS, she spent seven years as an ETF sales trader at DekaBank between 2008 and 2015.

Auersperg started his career at Société Générale in 2007 as a sales analyst before moving to Lyxor where he was responsible for institutional sales for clients in Germany and Austria.

The appointments come at a time when Amundi is making a big recruitment push in its ETF business, according to CEO Yves Perrier.

As part of this, the firm poached Liz Wright from Vanguard as a senior sales specialist, ETF Stream revealed last week, while also hiring Ashley Fagan from BlackRock to head up its ETF, indexing and smart beta development for the UK and Ireland in January.
