AXA Investment Managers has appointed Olivier Paquier as global head of ETF sales from JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM), ETF Stream can reveal.

In his new role, Paquier (pictured) will be responsible for distributing the French giant’s ETF range throughout the globe.

Reporting to Nicolas-Louis Guille-Biel, global head of ETF and product strategy at AXA IM, he will be supported by an ETF business manager and nine salespeople worldwide.

Paquier joined JPMAM in December 2017 as head of ETF distribution for continental Europe and Latin America, responsible for distributing the firm’s newly-launched ETF range.

He was subsequently promoted to ETF distribution head for EMEA in 2019 and has overseen the growth of JPMAM’s ETF range to €9.6bn assets under management (AUM), as at the end of 2022, according to data from Bloomberg Intelligence.

Prior to JPMAM, Paquier was head of SPDR ETF France, Monaco, Spain and Portugal at State Street Global Advisors for six years between 2011 and 2017.

He started his career at Euronext before joining Amundi’s ETF business in 2008.

Commenting on the appointment, Hans Stoter, global head of AXA IM Core, said: “We have adopted an entrepreneurial spirit to develop our ETF platform and deliver the project in-house, leveraging our internal capabilities with people from different teams, as well as additional skills with external recruitments to strengthen our ETF community.

“We have now reinforced our ETF distribution value chain and are delighted to welcome Olivier, one of the most recognised ETF professionals in the industry.

“We are now ready to accelerate and further expand this platform in the coming months and launch new ETFs to enlarge our range, having the strong ambition to becoming a leading active ETF player in Europe.”

AXA IM entered the European ETF market last September with the launch of two actively-managed ETFs, the AXA IM ACT Biodiversity Equity UCITS ETF (ABIU) and the AXA IM ACT Climate Equity UCITS ETF (ACLT).

Last November, the French asset manager laid down a marker to the rest of the ETF market with the launch of Europe’s cheapest Nasdaq 100 ETF, the AXA IM Nasdaq 100 UCITS ETF (ANAU), which has gathered $371m assets under management (AUM).
