Isabelle Bourcier has left her role as head of quantitative and index management at BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) after almost six years at the business, ETF Stream can reveal.

BNPP AM said they are currently recruiting to replace Bourcier (pictured) and that the firm's head of multi-asset and quantitative solutions Denis Panel will take on her role on an interim basis.

Bourcier has not yet announced her new role. She did not respond to a request for comment.

A spokesperson for BNPP AM said: “We can confirm that Isabelle Bourcier has left BNP Paribas Asset Management.

“Recruitment is currently ongoing and an announcement will be made in due course. In the meantime, Denis Panel, head of multi-asset quantitative and solutions, will take charge of her responsibilities.”

Bourcier joined the business in 2016 as the global head of ETF and index solutions, before being promoted to head of quantitative and index a year later.

Prior to this, she worked at smart beta specialist Ossiam for nearly five years as the head of business development.

A pioneer in the ETF industry, Bourcier started her career at Lyxor Asset Management in 2000, two years after it was established by Société Générale (SocGen), helping to build out its ETF franchise from scratch and growing it to become the fourth-largest issuer by 2010.

In 2006, she became global head of ETFs for SocGen, managing a sales and marketing team of 57 people before leaving Ossiam in 2011.

BNP Paribas AM’s Bourcier: Thematic investing brings a new dimension to ESG

Most recently, Bourcier was responsible for a major overhaul of BNPP AM’s ETF range, shifting €9bn assets to ESG indices or the Paris Aligned Benchmark (PAB) with further plans to switch the whole range in 2022.

The move means the French asset manager now has 83% of its ETF product range – representing over €16bn of AUM – classified as either Article 8 or 9 under SFDR.

She was also responsible for the launch of several PAB equity ETFs in the past years as the firm looked to grow its low carbon range, while also growing BNPP AM’s thematic ESG range with the launch of the BNP Paribas Easy ECPI Global ESG Blue Economy UCITS ETF (BLUE) and the BNP Paribas Easy ECPI Circular Economy Leaders UCITS ETF (REUSE).

In December, she was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to ETFs at the inaugural ETF Stream awards.
