HANetf has hired former BMO Global Asset Management ETF portfolio management head for EMEA Terry Wood as head of business development.

Wood has not held a role in the ETF space since BMO GAM made the decision to close its European ETF business in November 2019.

He spent 13 years at BMO GAM, joining in 2007 before being appointed head of ETF portfolio management following the launch of the firm’s ETF range in 2015.

Prior to this, he was a quantitative analyst at both Insight Investment and Deutsche Asset Management.

Commenting on his appointment, Hector McNeil, co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf, said: “We are very happy to Terry join the team. He is running business development at HANetf helping us respond to enquiries we receive from potential clients who want to issue ETFs.

“He is highly experienced and has added significant senior asset management and ETF experience to the team.”

In May, Europe’s first white-label ETF issuer hired former Woodford Investment Management head of sales Simon Dale to lead its active ETF push.

Meanwhile, in February, the firm hired one of the original ETF pioneers in Europe and former DWS ETFs head Manooj Mistry as chief operating officer.
