HSBC Global Asset Management (HSBC GAM) has appointed Dominic Clabby as its new head of ETF strategy.

Based in London, Clabby (pictured) will report to Carmen Gonzalez-Calatayud, head of ETF capability at HSBC GAM.

In his new role, he will lead the company’s ETF product strategy and head up the expansion of its ETF strategy offering.

Entering the role with 17 years’ worth of experience in the investment industry and seven years in ETF strategy and distribution, Clabby joins HSBC GAM from Invesco, where he was head of product engagement.

He joined Invesco following the US asset manager’s acquisition of European ETF issuer Source in 2017.

Prior to this, Clabby held roles in distribution at AXA Distribution Services and Fidelity International.

Thorsten Machalik, global head of external wholesale and ETFs at HSBC GAM, commented: "ETFs continue to feature as a key component in investors’ portfolios and we’re seeing strong growth and momentum within our ETF range.

“Dominic’s appointment will allow us to continue innovating our product range to enable us to offer market leading products to our clients.”

Clabby added: “HSBC GAM has seen significant growth in its ETF business over the past year, driven by the new innovative products it has brought to the market. It is an exciting time to join the firm.”

The appointment comes a month after ETF Stream revealed HSBC GAM was planning to launch a securities lending programme for its ETF range in Europe for the first time.
