JP Morgan AM bolsters ETF team

Scott Longley

JP Morgan has moved to enhance its ETF proposition in Europe with three high-profile and experienced hires in product and distribution.

Olivier Paquier joins from State Street and will take up the post of head of continental Europe ETF distribution while Ivan Durdevic has been appointed head of ETF distribution Switzerland after switching from Amundi.

Lastly, John Harrington has been appointed head of beta and ETF product and he will be responsible for JPMAM's beta strategies business.

Paquier and Harrington will be based in London while Durdevic will be based in Zurich.

He joins from Deutsche Bank where he was responsible for both new product development and maintaining their existing range of ETFs.

Bryon Lake, head of international ETFs at JPMAM, said the three would be joining a rapidly expanding team.

Lake said each brought significant experience to their new roles.

"As ETF specialists, their in-depth understanding of the nuances of the ETF market will help us continue to build a best in class business, as we take additional steps towards building our ETF capabilities internationally to serve our clients."

Paquier managed the ETF distribution team across Southern Europe for State Street and led the French office. Prior to that, he held senior distribution roles at Amundi and Euronext.

Durdevic joins from Amundi where he was deputy head of ETF and indexing sales in Switzerland. Previous to that he was at iShares where he distributed ETFs to saving banks and cooperative banks.

Harrington joins from Deutsche Bank where he was responsible for both new product development and maintaining their existing range of ETFs.

In September last year, just before the ETF launch, JPMAM appointed John Adu as UK head of ETF distribution and Tom Stephens as head of JP Morgan ETF international capital markets. Lake himself was appointed head of international ETFs in March 2017.
