China ETF issuer KraneShares has appointed Paolo Iurcotta as head of Italy sales.

In his new role, Iurcotta (pictured) will be responsible for developing the firm’s Italian business and covering a wide range of clients including asset managers, pension funds and family offices.

He has been involved in the ETF industry since its launch in Europe in 2000 having spent 15 years at Société Générale between 2004 and 2019 where he was a senior sales manager.

Prior to this, Iurcotta also held senior roles at Merrill Lynch between 2000 and 2004 and Citi for three years between 1997 and 2000.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Xiaolin Chen, head of international at KraneShares, said: “The growth of the Italian ETF industry and Italian investors' strong demand for China-focused UCITS ETFs make Italy a key strategic growth market for KraneShares.

“We are pleased to announce Paolo has joined our firm to help expand our presence in Italy.”

Iurcotta added: “I look forward to building upon this mandate by providing a local presence in Italy and bringing KraneShares’ leading China market insights to Italian investors.

“I am also excited to cross-list more of the firm's UCITS ETFs on the Borsa Italiana.”

The KraneShares CSI China Internet UCITS ETF (KWEB) was cross-listed on the Borsa Italiana in January.
