LGIM swoops for new ETF capital markets head

Scott Longley

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has swooped for a ETF capital markets head weeks after debuting a core suite of products in the market.

Annacarle Delepiane will be responsible for managing the implementation and execution of trades across LGIM's ETF range on behalf of clients, partnering with market markets, broker-dealers, trading venues and data providers.

She will work closely with LGIM's ETF portfolio management and distribution teams as the business seeks to grow its ETF business following the acquisition of Canvas, the European Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) platform formerly owned by ETF Securities, in March 2018.

LGIM offers 29 ETFs, which are available to asset managers, and intermediary clients in the UK and Europe.

LGIM's much anticipated debut in the space came in mid-November, a move which the company itself characterised in comments at the time as being "not too late."

Delepiane joins from State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), where she was a lead relationship manager in the SPDR Capital Markets team. Prior to joining in 2016, she worked in iShares EMEA capital markets division.

In this newly-created role, Delepiane will be based in London and will report to Simon Hynes, head of retail distribution EMEA.

Hynes said that with investor demand for ETFs showing no sign of pausing, it meant the company was in need for the in-depth capabilities represented by someone of Delepiane's calibre.

"She brings an in-depth amount of knowledge which will be invaluable in helping our clients to trade our products efficiently to build portfolios which help them to achieve their investment goals."
