Chin-Ping Chia, managing director and head of research, Asia Pacific, at MSCI, is set to depart after 18 years with the firm.

Chia (pictured) joined MSCI in 2001 as head of equity research, Asia, before being appointed head of MSCI Beijing in 2011.

At MSCI, he was responsible for overseeing the firm’s research and product development agendas for Asia Pacific across a variety of topics including factor investing, global investing and ESG integration.

He started his career as an associate director at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, where he spent three years before joining HSBC Asset Management as a buy-side investment analyst in 2000.

He currently sits on the advisory committee of the Quantitative Finance Program for the Chinese University of Hong Kong and is an advisory member of the Public Shareholder Group at the Securities and Futures Commission.

Chia commented: “I had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing and talented people in this industry and witnessed the incredible growth and transformation of the company.

“I also felt extremely privileged to have contributed to the opening up of the China equity market which will no doubt remain a highlight of my career.”
