Qontigo has appointed FTSE Russell’s Stephane Degroote as global head of investable product sales.

In the newly created role, Degroote will be responsible for building out the firm’s relationships with ETF issuers and positioning its STOXX and DAX indices as the underlying for new investable products.

Based in London, he will report to Marc Dorfman, global head of sales at Qontigo.

Degroote joins having spent 12 years at FTSE Russell, most recently as EMEA head of the index investment group, responsible for all index-linked products including ETFs, index funds, structured products, derivatives and asset owner mandates.

He started his role at FTSE Russell as a regional director for Russell Investments, before spending five years as head of ETFs and derivatives for EMEA.

Prior to FTSE Russell, he was also EMEA sales director at FactSet and head of equity derivatives sales at Markit Group.

Commenting on the appointment, Dorfman said: “Stephane’s wide-ranging experience in engaging directly with ETF issuers and their end clients makes him ideally placed to further develop our client relationships in this important growth market segment."

He is the latest high-profile appointment by the firm over the past year. In November 2021, Qontigo appointed Vanguard’s former head of product for Asia Axel Lomholt as chief product officer and BlackRock’s head of portfolio management across Eastern Europe Serkan Batir as managing director of the DAX.

Qontigo has €103bn in ETF assets under management tracking its index range, as at the end of July. The firm has bookmarked thematic, factor and ESG ETFs as the biggest growth area for the firm which was created in 2019 through the combination of Axioma, DAX and STOXX.
