Mandy Chiu, managing director, head of EMEA and APAC ETF product at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), has departed after six years at the firm.

Chiu (pictured) has overseen landmark moments since joining SSGA in 2016 such as the launch of the $5.7bn SPDR Bloomberg SASB U.S. Corporate ESG UCITS ETF (SPPU) in October 2020, which has gone on to become the firm’s second-largest product available in Europe.

She was also head of ETF product for Europe and Asia as SSGA’s global assets under management (AUM) soared 23% over the year, as at 30 September, a significant moment that solidified its parent bank’s decision not to sell its asset management arm.

Starting her career in ETFs at Taiwan’s largest security house and ETF provider, Yuanta Securities, Chiu spent a year as a financial advisor and stockbroker.

Following this, she spent three years as capital markets and product analyst at ETF Securities, before moving to HSBC Asset Management to become associate director of ETF product structuring and research.

Her last role before SSGA was a return to ETF Securities between 2012 and 2016 as director of product strategy.

SSGA did not disclose Chiu’s plans following her departure.

Commenting on the move, Chiu said: “After nearly six years at SSGA, it is time to embark on my next journey in the new year.

“I joined SSGA's European ETF business with $13bn, and today it has $61bn AUM. As the head of product, I feel humbled to be part of a success story and look forward to taking part in another one.

Prior to Chiu’s departure, Goldman Sachs Asset Management hired Rima Haddad as head of ETF distribution for EMEA from SSGA in October.
