Valour has appointed John Sjöberg as chief information officer (CIO) from Swedish stock exchange provider Nordic Growth Market (NGM).

Sjöberg (pictured) will work closely with Valour CEO Tommy Fransson and the management team of parent company DeFi Technologies to lead the firm’s international expansion.

Previously, he was chief technology officer (CTO) and head of market data at NGM.

He established the IT organisation within NGM 16 years ago and led the strategy, development and operation of the stock exchange’s IT and market data functions.

Commenting on the appointment, Fransson said: “John has a wealth of experience in originating and managing extremely robust and innovative IT infrastructure in a fully regulated environment.

“His competence and his interest for continuous development of the market will be a great support to our team.”

Sjöberg added: “Providing retail investors with a wider variety of investment opportunities in quality products is close to my heart and I am excited to join Valour with its talented and hard-working team and be part of their future.”

He becomes the firm’s second senior hire in five months after Fransson replaced Diana Biggs as CEO last November. Fransson also joined from NGM after spending almost two decades at the firm.
