Vanguard has launched a range of actively-managed multi-asset ETFs varying in equity and bond exposures.

The eight-strong range is listed on Borsa Italiana and Frankfurt Stock Exchange with total expense ratios of 0.25%.

Available in both distribution and accumulation basis, the range includes four portfolios with equity exposures ranging from 20% to 80% and fixed income accounting for the remaining exposure.

They are constructed using Vanguard equity and fixed income ETFs with securities from both developed and emerging markets, without a regional or sector focus.

The fixed income exposures include government and corporate bonds with an aim to minimise various currency risks.

ETFs available include:

  • Vanguard LifeStrategy 20% Equity UCITS ETF (V20D)
  • Vanguard LifeStrategy 40% Equity UCITS ETF (V40D)
  • Vanguard LifeStrategy 60% Equity UCITS ETF (V60D)
  • Vanguard LifeStrategy 80% Equity UCITS ETF (V80D)

The suite joins Vanguard's LifeStrategy franchise, which currently spans the US, Australia, UK, and Canada. The suite will run by Vanguard Asset Management’s Equity Index Group, which manages more than $4.2 trillion in assets globally.

Multi-asset ETFs come to the party in Europe

Matthew Piro (pictured), head of product, at Vanguard Europe, commented: “As an all-in-one solution, the products can be used as a core holding by those investors who want to maintain a static asset allocation based on their individual risk tolerance and offer easy access to a large number of both fixed income and equity holdings at a low-cost.

"This product suite is suited not only for the end investor but also for the adviser, who could consider this product suite as a core holding for their clients.”

The move follows rivals BlackRock which launched a multi-asset ESG ETF range in September.
