WisdomTree has appointed the World Gold Council’s Nilesh Parmar as its director of UK institutional sales.

In his new role, Parmar (pictured) will head up the firm’s business development across UK institutional clients with a core focus on asset managers and private banks.

Parmar joins from the WGC where he worked as an institutional relationship manager covering EMEA for just under a year.

In his capacity as institutional relationship manager, Parmar pitched the investment case for gold allocations in portfolios to asset managers. He also worked with ETF issuers to try and increase flows into gold ETCs.

Prior to the WGC, Parmar held roles at DWS where he worked as an ETF sales manager for the UK and Ireland for five years.

Commenting on the appointment, Alexis Marinof, head of WisdomTree Europe, said: “Joining our growing sales team, Nilesh is a hire of the highest calibre who supports our aim of continuously delivering a superior client experience.

“Bringing in-depth knowledge of the ETF market and gold ETCs to the team, Nilesh will be an invaluable asset, enhancing our UK sales capabilities as we seek to expand our institutional presence.

“In his role, Nilesh will leverage the deep institutional relationships he has built over his career to expand our footprint across this key client segment.”

Having entered the role on 1 March, Parmar is WisdomTree’s most recent appointment, and will report to Ravinder Azad, the firm’s head of UK and Nordic sales.

Parmar added: “WisdomTree is the perfect fit to allow me to leverage my experience, provide exceptional client support and contribute to achieving our sales targets.

“I look forward to building new relationships and working with my existing contacts in the institutional space to present WisdomTree’s comprehensive product range which can help investors navigate the changes we are seeing in market dynamics.”
