HSBC Asset Management has appointed Martin Pendlebery as director of ETF and indexing sales from UBS Asset Management.

Based in London, Pendlebery will be responsible for supporting the UK ETF and indexing business with responsibility for the DFM and private banking sector and asset management client segments in the UK.

He joins from UBS Asset Management, where he spent almost five years as an ETF sales specialist for the UK and Ireland.

Prior to this, he spent over five years at Deutsche Bank, first as a project coordinator before moving on to become an ETF research and business analyst.

During his time at the firm, Pendlebery was focused on ETF offerings for the platform as well as managing the approved list for the wealth management arm, researching gaps in strategies and monitoring ETFs through analysis and due diligence processes.

HSBC AM did not respond to a request for comment.

The UK asset manager turned heads in the industry recently after it announced it would be creating ETF share classes for four fixed income index funds with assets over $6bn.

Although first approved by the Central Bank of Ireland in 2017, HSBC AM is the first to create ETF share classes for Irish-domiciled funds.
