Fixed income ETF specialist Tabula Investment Management has appointed Jason Smith as chief investment officer.

In the newly created role, Smith will be responsible for the design and creation of Tabula’s new funds.

He joins Tabula from Goldman Sachs Asset Management where he held the role of senior portfolio manager. This involved focusing on fixed income portfolios including rates, inflation and secured finance.

He also managed a range of fixed income and absolute return portfolios over a 20-year career at BlackRock, JP Morgan, Towers Perrin and IBM.

Smith said in a statement: “Last year saw record flows into fixed income ETFs, and our research suggests 2020 could be another record year.

“There is growing demand from investors for new innovative solutions that offer real and very specific solutions.”

Last December, Tabula appointed Robin Grant as chief financial officer from Quantmetrics.
