He joined from Orpheus Partners where he served as sales director for just over two years.

Spells started his career at LGBR Capital, leaving the company as business development director after five years.

In his new role, Paul will report directly to James Thomas, head of sales at ARK Invest Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, James Thomas, head of sales at ARK Invest Europe, said: “Paul's deep expertise and understanding of the European market dynamics will greatly enhance our capabilities and enable us to better serve our clients in this key region.

“We are thrilled to welcome Paul aboard and look forward to the expertise and energy he will bring to our growing sales team as we continue to innovate and expand."

Spells added: “I am thrilled to join ARK Invest and look forward to leveraging my experience to contribute to the company’s innovative approach to investing.

“I look forward to engaging with investors in the coming months."

Following its acquisition of thematic specialist Rize ETF last summer, ARK Invest Europe launched three active ETFs in April, covering innovation, genomics and artificial intelligence.

Elsewhere, Circa5000 shut its platform business in February with its client accounts absorbed by AJ Bell, adding it would focus efforts on its five impact ETFs.
