Euroclear has promoted Valérie Urbain from chief business officer to CEO.
Urbain (pictured) will succeed Lieve Mostrey, who has led the company since January 2017.
Effective 3 May, the appointment follows Mostrey's decision to retire in July 2023.
Urbain was appointed as chief business officer in 2021, where she currently oversees commercial and product development of the firm.
Prior to this, Urbain was CEO of Euroclear Bank, the group's International Central Securities Depository (ICSD).
From 2009 to 2014, Urbain was the CEO of Euroclear ESES Central Securities Depositories, overseeing Euroclear Belgium, France and Nederland.
She has also served as Euroclear's chief people officer, among other roles.
Commenting on the appointment, Francesco Vanni d’Archirafi, chairman of Euroclear, said: “Valérie has also played an important role in the success of Euroclear.
“Not only does she bring unparalleled knowledge of Euroclear and its clients, but has also been a key architect of its current business strategy.
“The board is delighted to appoint such a strong internal leader and is confident in her abilities to take the company forward.”
