Global X has appointed Legal & General Investment Management’s (LGIM) Brendan Needham as its country head for Ireland.

Needham joined the ETF issuer in February and will be responsible for managing its ETF business in the region.

He has over 20 years of experience as a portfolio manager and joins having spent four years at LGIM where he was most recently an investment manager.

Prior to this, he spent eight and a half years at Anima Asset Management as head of fixed income and fund of funds and latterly head of quantitative strategies.

While at Anima, he was responsible for a wide range of equity funds including large cap, developed markets, small caps, country-specific and custom funds.

He also worked at Prima Asset Management for more than seven years as a senior portfolio manager for equities. Before this, he was a senior investment analyst at Mercer Investment Consulting.

It is the latest hire for Global X since it appointed Tristan Grossetete and Kilian Richter to cover the French-speaking markets and the Nordics in November last year.

Since then, the firm has launched three ETFs in Europe, the Global X Nasdaq 100 Covered Call UCITS ETF (QYLD), the Global X S&P 500 Quarterly Buffer UCITS ETF (SPQB) and the Global X S&P 500 Quarterly Tail Hedge UCITS ETF (SPQH).
