Schroder Investment Solutions CIO Alex Funk is set to join PortfolioMetrix as head of investments.

Funk (pictured) will replace Nic Spicer, who has left PortfolioMetrix to pursue a master’s degree in sustainable energy at Imperial College.

Prior to his role at Schroder Investment Solutions, Funk was CIO at Benchmark Capital from 2019 to 2021.

Before moving to the UK, Funk served as CEO at Cinnabar Investment Management in South Africa for just over two years.

He also held the role of wealth manager at GCI Wealth for three years prior to joining Cinnabar Investment Management.

Following Funk’s departure, the firm’s funds and models will continue to be co-managed by portfolio managers Robert Starkey and Ryan Paterson.

A spokesperson for Schroders, said: “Alex Funk is leaving the business with our best wishes for the future.

“Robert Starkey and Ryan Paterson, portfolio managers, have co-managed the Schroder Investment Solutions range of funds and models since May 2021 and with £5.9bn assets under management, as at 31 March, they will continue in their roles ensuring client-focused investment outcomes through active management.”

The seven-strong Schroder Investment Solutions investment team is part of the Schroders global multi-asset team under the leadership of group CIO Johanna Kyrklund.

Other industry reshuffles include JP Morgan Asset Management’s global head of ETF solutions Bryon Lake joining Goldman Sachs Asset Management earlier this month, though his role is yet to be confirmed.
