State Street recognised for its workplace diversity

World's first ETF issuer State Street has bagged a series of NGO awards for its work promoting diversity.

The company has been recognised by several NGOs as a leader in financial services - an industry long dominated by men - at promoting women in the workplace. This includes its Professional Women's Network programme, which helps women network, practice public speaking and other professional skills. The group has more than 4,000 members.

"We firmly believe that more diverse organizations yield better business results," said Kathy Horgan, chief human resources officer at State Street.

"Employee resource groups and work-life supports are pivotal in attracting and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce."

The company was also recognised for its workplace programmes that help advance the careers of women, provide workhours flexibility, as well as childcare and maternity leave. The US is unusual among rich countries in that it does not have government-mandated paid maternity leave.
