VanEck has rotated senior ETF product manager Dominik Schmaus to ETF sales for Germany and Austria.

Based in Frankfurt, Schmaus enters his first ETF sales role after almost a decade in ETF product management.

He will focus on promoting VanEck's range to digital platforms and wealth managers.

Schmaus joined the firm as a product manager for ETFs in 2018 before being promoted to senior product manager last May.

Previously, he spent four years at Deka Investment, formerly in ETF management and development and latterly as an ETF product management for quantitative fund management.

Schmaus told ETF Stream his interest in sales began at Deka and moving to VanEck, he helped the firm establish partnerships with well-known brokers in Germany.

"Since the potential in the area of ETF savings plans is immense for the next few years throughout Europe, it was now time for me to take the step of dedicating myself completely to the topic," he said.

"We currently have seven co-operations in Germany alone and are in further talks with potential partners."

In the past year, Schmaus was part of the team that oversaw several Europe firsts, with ETF Stream revealing the launch of its VanEck Defense UCITS ETF (DFNS) and VanEck Oil Services UCITS ETF (OIHV) in April and the VanEck Bionic Engineering UCITS ETF (CYBO) last December.

VanEck also continued to address esoteric parts of the market as other issuers slowed down on thematic launches including the VanEck Uranium and Nuclear Technologies UCITS ETF (NUCL) in February and the VanEck Genomics and Healthcare Innovators UCITS ETF (CURE) last September.
