WisdomTree has expanded its thematic range with the launch of a transition metal miners ETF.

The WisdomTree Energy Transition Metals and Rare Earths Miners UCITS ETF (RARE) is listed on Deutsche Boerse and Borsa Italiana with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.50%.

RARE will list on the London Stock Exchange on 10 April.

RARE tracks the WisdomTree Energy Transition Metals and Rare Earths Miners index which captures 70 equities from developed and emerging markets involved in the energy transition metals value chain.

These include the exploration and processing of metals used in technologies associated with energy transition themes such as electric vehicles, transmission, charging, energy storage, solar, wind and hydrogen.

The index’s highest weighting is Ecolab (3.62%) followed by Alumina (3.50%) and Pilbara Minerals (3.34%).

Alexis Marinof (pictured), head of Europe at WisdomTree, said: “RARE complements our existing line-up of energy transition-focused ETFs and ETPs, allowing investors to allocate capital directly to the crucial sectors enabling the energy transition through metal production.

“The ETF is a natural extension of our European product range, combining our commodities and thematics capabilities.”

The launch builds on WisdomTree’s energy transition metals exchange-traded commodity (ETC), which offers investors exposure to metals involved in the energy transition.

Elsewhere, the asset manager launched a multi-theme megatrend ETF last December, capturing 14 themes across three megatrends.

WisdomTree has also recently seen handsome returns on its $2.2bn WisdomTree Brent Crude Oil ETC (BRNT) following an increase in oil prices sparked by heightening geopolitical tensions including an Israeli airstrike in Syria.
