The FTSE ESG Select EMU Government Bond Index aims to reflect the performance of fixed-rate, euro-denominated, investment-grade sovereign debt issued by developed market countries in the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), excluding countries which do not fulfil specific ESG (environmental, social, and governance) criteria. Securities issued by EMU countries in the FTSE ESG Select World Government Bond Index - DM (Parent Index) are eligible for inclusion in the index. Country ESG scores are calculated by evaluating each country's performance across the three ESG pillars. ESG scores are intended to assess a country’s exposure to, and management of, certain ESG risk factors, as determined by the Sustainability Profile of the Beyond Ratings Sovereign Risk Monitor. To be included in the index, a country must be classified as ‘Free’ by Freedom House. Countries are ranked by their ESG score and must exceed a certain threshold for inclusion in the index.
