UK industry body The Investment Association has promoted Hugo Gordon to head of capital markets.
Approaching 11 years at the IA, Gordon (pictured) will lead on industry engagements and the group’s approach to policy issues across public markets, covering investment research, equities, fixed income, FX, derivatives and ETFs.
He has spent the past seven years in policy advisor roles covering capital markets, with a recent focus on topics including the EU and UK shifts to T+1 settlement.
Gordon commented on Linkedin: “I will be overseeing the IA's work on policy issues relating to public markets - I look forward to continuing to assist our members as we push for further growth and an investment environment that produces better outcomes for their clients and the economy and society as a whole.”
His work covering ETFs at the IA is in collaboration with Tom Stephens, international head of capital markets at JP Morgan Asset Management, who was promoted to chair of the IA’s ETF Committee last year.
Gordon will be sharing his views on pressing questions for ETFs in Europe’s capital markets at ETF Stream's ETF Ecosystem Unwrapped event on 22 May as he moderates a panel covering the shift to T+1, CSDR, listings consolidation and the rise of retail trading.
