People moves: Rushe joins BNY Mellon for European ETF push

Rob Rushe has joined BNY Mellon from State Street in order to head up the company's effort to execute its long-term growth plan in the European ETF platform sector.

He will report to BNY Mellon's chief executive for ETF funds Jeff McCarthy, based in Dublin.McCarthy said that Rushe had a wealth of ETF knowledge had had been involved in developing Europe's first ETF service model in 2000.

"BNY Mellon offers a platform for asset managers to launch and help manage Exchange Traded Funds," he added. "We are confident that Rob will drive increased innovation and expansion to our platform."

In his role, Rushe will lead and execute the long-term growth in BNY Mellon's European ETF platform and will help deliver enterprise-wide ETF solutions to the marketplace to support continued regional growth of the ETF segment. Rushe's appointment follows BNY Mellon's ETF re-structuring earlier this year.

This included the hiring of McCarthy into a newly created firm-wide ETF leadership role, London-based Scott Coey to the new position of head of relationship development for ETF and structured products in Europe the Middle East and Africa, and Bob Humbert to take on ETF strategy.

Rushe joins from State Street, where he was managing director and EMEA head of exchange traded fund servicing. Prior to seven years at State Street, he spent 12 years at Bank of Ireland and Northern Trust.
