State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has hired Konrad Kleinfeld from BlackRock as head of fixed incomedistribution EMEA in the firm’s SPDR ETF division.

Based in Frankfurt, Kleinfeld (pictured) will report to Matteo Andreetto, head of SPDR ETF business, EMEA, at SSGA.

He joins from BlackRock, where he spent the last five years – the last three of which he was a senior member of BlackRock’s institutional ETF and index investments distribution team in Germany.

Prior to this, he was vice president in the global flow credit team at Nomura International for seven years.

Commenting on the hire, Andreetto said: “We welcome Konrad to the firm and we believe his experience and insights of the ETF environment will play a hugely valuable role in both meeting our clients’ needs and supporting our own business growth ambitions.

“Fixed income is a global priority for SPDR, and this is a strategic hire to enable us to build on our expertise in this sector.”

Kleinfeld’s arrival follows a series of recent departures from the company including its UK wealth head James Thomas, who joined Rize ETF, its head of EMEA and APAC ETF product Mandy Chiu, who joined Tabula, and its head of ETF distribution EMEA Rima Haddad, who joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management last October.
