Scott Longley

European expansion is the name of the game for VanEck which this week has announced the appointment of Dominik Schmaus as a new product manager within its European ETF arm.

Schmaus has been tasked with developing innovative products and helping to expand the entire range of funds available to European investors.

He join VanEck from Deka Investment where he gained numerous years of experience in developing and implementing exchanged-listed index funds as a member of the ETF product management team.

"Both institutional and retail investors remain very interested in ETFs, and we are observing increasing demand in all countries," said Torsten Hunke, managing director at VanEck.

He added that in appointing Schmaus, VanEck was reacting to the "rising demand for innovations within this product class."

"His many years of experience will be a great asset for our product management team. We will be able to build on his expertise, particularly in product development and implementation, and benefit from his relationships with market decision-makers, stock exchanges and trading desks."

Hunke added that Schmaus would also help the company in its aim of expanding the product range with "creative and intelligent solutions" in order to realise the company's ongoing growth ambitions.

Schmaus has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus on finance from the Universities of Applied Sciences in Munich, Germany and Saimaa, Finland.
