SIX has invested in index provider BITA in a move to expand the firm’s global benchmark platform and existing joint projects.

Existing BITA shareholders ETFS Capital, Volta Ventures and Pamica also invested in BITA’s latest funding round.

BITA said it will use the investment to improve the functionality of its infrastructure and continue to expand into other markets.

Since 2022, SIX and BITA have partnered on several projects including the development of a new range of global equity indices.

Victor Hugo Gomez (pictured), CEO of BITA, commented: “Our growing business relationship with SIX is a perfect example of how our indexing infrastructure can support financial institutions in scaling their product development, cutting time to market and increasing their flexibility.”

Marion Leslie, head of financial information and executive board member at SIX, added: “Our strategic investment in BITA strengthens our existing partnership and fuels our shared vision of a future where customised indexing solutions are accessible and scalable for all market participants.”

In 2021, SIX acquired index and ETF data specialist Ultumus from ETFS Capital for an undisclosed fee.

BITA is a portfolio company of ETFS Capital, an investor in ETF Stream
