BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) is merging its ETF and quantitative portfolio management teams to create a systematic and quantitative investment (SQI) division.

SQI will be led by the division’s newly appointed CIO Robinson Rouchié, who will report to Rob Gambi, global head of investments at BNPP AM.

Based in Paris, Rouchié will vacate his current role as Gambi’s chief of staff once his successor has been appointed but will remain a member of BNPP AM’s investment committee.

Gambi commented: “Robinson has demonstrated strategic vision, detailed technical knowledge and a strong commercial focus.

“He will bring a breadth of investment expertise – from securities research and quantitative analysis, through to asset allocation, and with a demonstrable track record of building strong client relationships.”

The news comes a year after Isabelle Bourcier departed as head of quantitative and index management at BNPP AM last March, with Olivier Lapléniestepping in as the firm’s head of quantitative portfolio management a month later.

Alongside the merging of the ETF and quantitative portfolio teams, BNPP AM announced Guy Davies will replace Denis Panel as head of multi assets and solutions teams who has joined Sycamore Asset Management as CEO.

Olivier de Larouzière will take the lead on investment teams within emerging markets affiliates, in addition to his role as CIO of global fixed income at BNPP AM.
