Franklin Templeton has expanded its EMEA distribution team by hiring Giovanna Cilia as ETF sales specialist for Switzerland.

Cilia will lead business development efforts for the firm’s Irish UCITS ETF platform in the market.

She joins from UBS, where she was senior ETF sales specialist for nine years, covering professional and institutional clients in Suisse Romande and Ticino.

Prior to this, Cilia worked in sales for security lending at Morgan Stanley for just over four years.

Commenting on the approval, Caroline Baron, head of ETF distribution EMEA, said: “Swiss professional investors are significant users of ETFs and Franklin Templeton has been established in Switzerland since 1997.

“Having a dedicated ETF sales specialist there will help address the needs of local institutional and wholesale investors and further boost Franklin Templeton’s ETF business in the EMEA region.”

The US giant saw a stream of region-specific hires in 2022, hiring Martin Bechtloff and Lotfi Ladjemi as senior ETF sales specialists for the German and Austrian markets and the UK and Ireland, respectively.

Four months prior, the firm hired Guillaume Dambrine as senior ETF sales specialist for France while Silvia Anselmi was appointed ETF sales specialist in Italy in February.

Other recent people moves in the industry came last week, when BNP Paribas Asset Management expanded Jérémy Tubiana’s role to include head of digital distribution as the group looked to increase its online platform presence across Europe.
